Promise Ultra100TX2

I'm trying to install Vista on a hard drive that is connected to a Promise Ultra100TX2 UATA 100 controller. The reason why I want to install it on this disk is because I have a 20GB partition set a side on it specifically for playing around with things like OS beta's. Here's the full run down of my system and what I"m tryng to install
Windows Vista 64bit AMD Athlon X2 1.5GB Memory SATA primary disk (300GB) 2 dvd drives (one burner) 120GB Ultra 100ATA disk (disk I"m trying to install vista on) Promise Ultra100TX2 constoller card
Vista seems to be able to detect my SATA controller just fine (nForce 4), but simply refuses to see the (much older) promise controller. I"ve searched the internet for drivers for this device, but unfortunetly all Promise has out there are 32b drivers.
Anyone else run across this situation? If so, where did you find drivers for this controller card (assuming 64b vista drivers exist for this controller).
Thanks Carlo Razzeto

I ran into this problem myself - get the latest driver .zip file from the Promise website, then burn ONLY the contents of the "WINXP" folder to a CD (these are the Windows XP drivers, I believe there were 3 such files). Then during Vista's installation, click on "install driver" or whatever and insert this disc - it will work, I've done it.

Really? So that's 64b compatible? I'll have to give it a try. Ended up creating a new partition on the 300GB to install it. But if I can get that controller going that'd be great since I have office 2007b and other such apps there... Now, to get the stupid adigy working :P

Naw, vista didn't seem to like the driver. the XP driver errored stating that the driver does not support windows xp... odd message. Oh well, hopefully something will turn up.

For Vista 64 Bit edition try using the windows 2003 drivers. I've heard that works for the 64 bit edition. I still can't get mine to work (same drivers, Vista 32 bit) I've tried the XP drivers and I still get no hard drive when I click refresh after I've installed them

I did a bunch of research on this exact problem with my Win XP Pro 64 OS...
I could get none of my old Maxtor or Promise Ultra 66, 100 or 133 cards to read any device connected to them so I started to read the various blogs... I found many people who had the same problem and in many cases including mine, if you simply installed the PCI card it was fine and you would see it echo it's loading at Boot up, but as soon as you connected any hard drive or burner\reader drive to either of the busses I'd blue screen as soon as it started to load at boot up... This was even before it ever started loading Windows...
I have a Tyan Thunder S2895 Mobo and all the blogs said a few lucky individuals were able to only get one kind of these IDE Bus cards to work and it's the exact one you are writing about here the Promise Ultra100TX2...
I got lucky and found a new one un-opened here in town and bought it right on the spot, thinking it would be the answer I needed per what I had read in the blogs... I was wrong, it blue screened just like the rest of my cards...
I updated my Mobo Bios to the latest and I downloaded the latest Bios and Firmware Flash for the Promise Ultra100TX2 but it locked me up the same whenever I tried to attach any device to it... I talked with both tech support guys from Tyan and Promise and beither of them could figure it out...
It drove me nuts, but be assured you are not the only one having this problem... I'm using 3 SATA2, 250GB, Western Digital HD's and they work just awesome and super fast, but I still do not know what the problem is with adding these add-on IDE Bus cards... The card itself loads fine and Windows runs perfect, but don't hang a device off either of the ribbon cables or I'll blue screen within a few seconds after Boot-up...
